It works fine on my machine but when I try it other pc's I get the following error:, , Exception EOleSysError in module DCHAT.EXE at 00032EF9. 'Access violation at address...' error
Hello pals,, , I have a Delphi application connecting to an Oracle database sitting on a Citrix server. When I try to do certain things I get an error 'Access violation at address...' The application was not developed inhouse and I do not know Delphi & Citrix so I can't guess why I get the error message. I get this message even when I am logged in as administrator on the citrix server and try to open a client session from there. The application runs without any problem on Windows NT/98. The problem seems to be specific to Citrix and Delphi, can anybody please help., , Hope I have given enough details., , Thanks,, Confused , -Shyami

How to sell a program written by D6 Personal?
I wrote a program by D6 personal. Initially for fun, but now it turns out I may sell it for some money. Does anyone know how much money I need to pay borland if I want sell a program written by D6 per? I'm a student, $1000 pro version is too much for me. I hope I will not need to re-write it by c++. Borland's tools are excellent, but the price is a little high.

Class not registered
Hello delphiers,, , Im not sure if anyone of you have come across this error message "Class not registered". I get this message when i try to create a COM object which starts communicating with the respective client-side program., , The client-side program in context is Lotus Notes 6.0.3. I have installed it on the same PC where I have Delphi 5 Ent installed, I also have run the notesws.reg file which adds the relevant registry entries. The .tlb files in the \lotus\notes\ directory are also installed in Delphi., , The moment I create the NotesSession object, I get this error message., , Somehow i feel that the classes are not able to find one or more keys or CLSID or GUID written into the registry. I traced through the .Create method to be able to make this guess. The GetSrv or GetServer method fails in the .tlb / OleSys.pas file., , How to go about fixing this problem? Where should i look? What is not yet installed or configured?, , Regards,, , Mani

ComboBox Text won't clear.
Hi there,, , Does anyone know how to clear the text dispplayed in a combo box? Mine just holds the last value and doesn't overwrite it when I tab back to it ideally I want it cleared and ready for the next entry. , , I've tried setting .Text := ''; but it doesn't work even if I set it to '1'; it doesn't display a 1 only the previous value. The whole text line seems to be higlighted rather than just the text. Any ideas?, , Thanks, Mully

BDE initialization error $2501
On a system, two different applications are installed. One uses BDE 5.01, one other uses BDE 5.1. , When ran separately, both applications work well., However, when we try to start one application while the other one is running we get either an error $2501 at BDE initiatlization, or a Windows Error (the application generated an error and will be closed)., 1) What is the meaning of error $2501 ??, 2) Is there anything we can do to avoid this incompatibility ?, Thanks for your help

Generally, you're asking for trouble when you install multiple versions of the BDE to the same machine. Why are you installing the BDE separately for each app?, For more documentation, ideas, and help, go to http://www.borland.com/devsupport/bde and http://www.bdesupport.com/

How to pass/return an array between ASP and Delphi
I have a problem passing and returning an array between an ASP page and a Delphi COM Object., , I create an array and pass it to the COM Object like this:, , arr = obj.ArrTest(Array("element1","element2")), , The function is defined as:, , function ArrTest(varname: OleVariant): OleVariant;, , Inside the function if I try to treat varname as an array it doesn't work. For example testing for an array:, , VarIsArray(varname);, , returns False., , Similarly if I create a Variant Array inside the COM Object and return it to the ASP page it seems to go wront., , Can someone give me a simple example of how to do this., , Thanks, emets

"separate pascal function for each one, and then use type fType = function(d:double):double to form an array of pointers to them so that you can index them from the selected variable of the combo box.", , Most conveniently using the Items.Objects of the TComboBox to store the pointers to the individual functions ..., , CB1.Items.AddObject('x * x', TObject(@XSq));, , Result := fType(CB1.Items.Objects[CB1.ItemIndex])(X);

Need BDE replacement
Am using CodeGear 2007 Win32 with dBase, ACE Reporter, Woll2Woll, JEDI components; therefore I have a lot of TTables and TQueries throughout my program. My applciation runs on a 2003 server with XP workstations. The response time to access data (retrieve, post, do SQLs) is horrible. The users are demanding something better. But I don't know what is better. And I don't know what the ramfications are in changing to something better. I sincerely hope that someone can give me recommendations as well as address the difficulty in changing to another database. Thank you so much, Charlie

How to change sort to descending?

If it is an index, then by default it is automatically ascending.

When selecting the data, include a SORT BY clause and then DESC for descending - it is automatically ascending by default. Here is an example:
SELECT FieldA, FieldB, FieldC FROM Employee ORDER BY FieldB;
SELECT FieldA, FieldB, FieldC FROM Employee ORDER BY FieldB DESC;

Lookup a value in an array
Is there a more efficient way to look up a value in an array then this:, , for i := 0 to length(myArr) - 1 do, begin, if myArr[i] := myValue then, found := true ;, end ;, , something like, if myValue in myArr then, found := true ;, , probably a stupid question, but I'm only using Delphi occasionally (though I love it)., , TIA,, Matt
