Shareware protection...
I am about to release a beta version of some software I have been developong, but want to put a time limit and registration system in place. At the moment the software registration will be for information only, so that I know who has a copy, so I don't really want to buy anything at this stage., , Does anyone know of any free components that I could use., , I need it to:, 1. Run a timebomb, 2. Allow me to use my own forms, 3. Generate a machine specific code based of HDD serial number or some other serial number., 4. Allow for entering an unlock code, based on the generated code and registrants name., , Thanks in advance for any help., , Gordon ALLAN

Re: StrToInt and Negative Numbers
Thanks Kim, That worked a treat. I suppose I should have thought of that... It turns out that the string was not being cleared before I put some more numbers in it., , It turns out I diudn't need the Int64, however it should be useful in the future., , Thanks, , Gordon Big Grin!

OLEServer... Bug?
I have as many of you will be aware been fighting a losing battle with a COM object I have been trying to import, and utilise. I , , I have after much investigation discovered that all the errors I am getting and in the OleServer.pas file on the event called, , TServerEventDispatch.GetTypeInfoCount, , I then get an error code:, , "access violation at 0x0044204d: write address of 0x00000003", , Is this a known bug of OleServer.pas or something to do with my imported COM object. The code for my object is in one of my previous threads. (UnImported CoClass Routines I think), , Hope someone can help as I am at the end of the plank, with a noose round my neck as far as this is concerned. Big Grin! Not Actually however it is getting to be like that., , Thanks in advance

Re: Creating un imported CoClass Routines
I forgot to mention, that If I could get the component wrapper to work properly, then this problem would be solved. It works and compiles, but when you call the Connect Routine, the compiler throws up an error on the oleserver file to do with a Count Variable in a subroutine, is this a known problem? or not? , , I do use a variable called Count in my application, but I did a simple application with that one component on and when I asked to connect it threw up the same error. I cannot rememeber the subroutine right now, but when I get back to my machine later on, I will let you know., , I hav not yet installed the D5 Update yet. Will this help?, , Thanks, , Gordon Confused

Re: email
You may also want to look at InnoSetup (www.innosetup.com) I have use both InstalShield and Inno and found Inno to be so much better there has just been a new release which has a much more modern interface., , Supoort is good and there are several newsgroups and you generally get an answer fairly rapidly. The other bonus is that if Inno does not do something, then you can use Pascal Scripting in the software to carry out the task., , I would recommend it to all, and best of all it is free for all uses., , Thanks, , Gordon :)

COM Component Wrappers
I have just imported a COM DLL and asked it to create a Component Wrapper., It did this, and then When I added it to my form and tried to compile, it, said that, , Tclassname, , could not be found. The ClassNameLib_TLB.pas has been added to my uses, clause. I am using Delphi 5 Pro., , Any thoughts??, , thanks, , Gordon ALLAN, , ------------------

I have discovered that I now have the component Wrapper working properly, and my problems were related to old versions appearing on the search path., , I now have another problem, when I ask it to connect I get an OLE Server error to do with a count variable. DO you know of any problem with this? And if so how do you suggest I overrcome it. I do use a global variable called count in my own program., , Thanks in advance., , Gordon ALLAN
