Background Image Control
I am developing an application using Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0. I need an image control for displaying a background picture of a form, on which other smaller images and shapes (such as circles or lines) are displayed and moved by the user. The problem with the basic VB image control is that its rendering capabilities are not sufficient, and moving other images upon it during runtime results in a very disturbing "flickering" effect., , I thought of using the GTImage ActiveX control, but when I tried to use it I couldn't move it to the background and place other images or shapes on top of it. , , Is there any way of doing that using this control ? Are there any other image controls I can use, or any other ideas on how to solve the problem ?

How to access Paradox Table with ASP
I was able to read from a Paradox table using Microsoft ODBC driver for paradox, but I can't write to it., I learned that you need BDE installed to be able to write and read from a paradox table., My questions is what setting do I need to adjust in BDE administrator and ODBC administrator to be able to accomplish this task., , OS is NT4.0 - MDAC2.7 installed., Paradox 10, I am using ASP to access the tables.

1. ObjectPAL Calendar Packaged as a Form

Some time ago I created a calendar form that I have been using instead of attaching to Microsofts calendar. This calendar works better for me than the OCX version from Microsoft did, so I thought that I would share it with you.

2. IE8 Combatibility Isn't Compatible

With the release of Internet Explorer 8, Microsoft has made IE more compliant with current standards, fixing problems that have bugged webmasters for years. This compatibility would probably be great except that it breaks perfectly good web applications created using Microsoft's latest and greatest development tools. This is the sort of thing that results in Apple's great TV ads. In this article, we introduce Compatibility View, discuss the problem, and a couple of the solutions.

Using real world scenarios when you write conceptual documentation for Software Development Kits (SDKs) is a way to give your readers ideas as to how the SDK can be used and to guide them as to what APIs are needed for commonly expected scenarios. This article guides you through how to gather information about scenarios, how to simplify them in order to make good examples, and how to lead developers through which APIs to use.

Languages Focus: Development Tools

Primary development tool(s) used to develop and debug code.

C++ Development Tools

Many compilers and development tools are available. Common development tools include Microsoft Visual C++, CodeGear C++Builder, and Eclipse.

With Visual C++ you use Microsoft's C++ syntax variations based on standard C++ or Microsoft's new C++/CLI syntax standard.

With C++Builder, you code using standard C++ with early support for the upcoming C++0x standard and using the VCL/RTL libraries. The VCL/RTL libraries are in common with Delphi which is based on Object Pascal. Within a project, C++Builder can use both C++ units and Delphi units.

With most C++ tools, you can also use your favorite C and C++ libraries too.
