Multi-form questions
I have 2 forms. On form 1, the user makes a selection from a table, then pushes a button which opens form 2. This is my attempt to get around not being able to filter detail tables on a form. In other words, form 1 acts as a filter. This all works fine, if form 2 isn't already open., , My question is how to check whether form 2 is open and close it if it is. Or manipulate the tables in form 2 with it open., , Harry

Export table to spreadsheet
exportSpreadsheet Does anyone know of an alternative method to export data from a table to a spreadsheet? I am currently using this,   exportSpreadsheet ( const tableName String, const fileName String [ , const makeRowHeaders Logical ] ) Logical but it has some extreme limitations,  such as FONT control and the number of lines you can export.

I do understand and that's why I'm installing a Filemaker system but it's taking time to replicate the versatility that we have with Paradox. Such a shame!

Even I should know how to do this...!
Hi, I have this trivial code on the newValue event of a date field on a form: var,   tcTick tCursor, endVar If self.value = "",    then,       msgStop("Whew !" Tickles completed through   " + string (tickDate)), endIf It displays my msgStop dialog when it shouild, but when I clear that dialog, Paradox displays its "At end of table" announcement. I've experimented with no success, but can't figure out how to prevent the Paradox dialog for displaying. Might you assist? Many thanks, Lothar ,    , ,

Max Library Size
Is there a maximum library size that one should stay under. The reason I ask is that I am experiencing quite a few General Protection Faults and I am uncertain as to why. I know in the past that we encountered this problem with calling a windows dll from the uses block. Someone told me that Paradox had a problem with Windows libraries over 64K. Does this 64K size apply to all libraries?

Libraries
I‘ve taken libraries that were originally made in previous versions of paradox. I have successfully resaved them under paradox 9 with no syntax errors. Then I deliver them. Problem is when I try to reference the delivered library vs the source, I get an error that this file doesn‘t have any symbol table information. Anybody know why?

I read somewhere that paradox puts the command into some sort of queue and makes you think it worked. I finally got it to work. It must be the very last line of code before endmethod. Not even an endif statement can be after it. Supposedly you can leave a form open by trapping for an eventID. I haven't tried that yet. This particular thing I was working on was just a script. Didn't used to be so touchie.

Sendkeys
I'm looking into using sendkeys for a weekly function I want to accomplish. So I looked around and found this link: , http://www.prestwoodboards.com/ASPSuite/KB/Document_View.asp?QID=100211 On the bottom, it says , , ;Button :: pushButton, method pushButton(var eventInfo Event), ;% = ALT key., sendKeys("%FOTCustomer{ENTER}"), endMethod, , This should open up File, Open, Table, type Customer, and press enter. , , I put this code in a button, but nothing happens. Someone must know the problem. , , Thanks

The false statement worked! I got the sendkeys to go into Windows Explorer, search for files that contain a certain text, and delete them all. Its pretty nice to see something like that work. , Thanks to all for your help. , Z

Two TCursors problem
Is it at all possible to open two Tcursors on the same table? I have a situation where I have to set a range on a table to find specific records. Then I have to scan through those records one by one and I have to compare them with all the other, to output the groups that go together. I’m thinking I’ll try a second Tcursor to open inside the range and make that scan through the records as well. Then I can compare the Tcursors with each other. Does any one know if this is possible, is there a better way to do this and what would the code look like, especially to open a Tcursor inside a range that’s set up on a first Tcursor? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Actually I have a rather large website that is all built using Paradox with pages created via PAL. Once you setup a few basic routines to handle common overhead stuff, its really quite easy., , Granted I've been working on this script (and developing the data itself) for 4 years now!, , http://www.catholic-hierarchy.org/ , , (moderators: if its not okay to give the url then please delete it)

posting an undefined field
Can anyone tell me how I can post multiple undefined check boxes to a field?, Example, there are 3 check boxes, named Boat, House and Cottage. If I check off any one of these fields, how can I post it to a field called "Description" in a table. Is it even possible without having to name each check box as a field in a table.

Select the field in the left pane first. Some structure operations are set for the entire table, while others are set for each field., , -Al.

Code to delete record's last character
Hello, This would seem pretty simple, but... I have some code that generates a CSV file that I then export to my phone. I need to tweak the code so that it looks at the last character of each record, and then deletes that character if it is a comma. Might you point me in the right direction to do that? I'm stumped. Sincere thanks, Lothar

BIG problem with speed of application. Very URGENT
I have a very urgent issue here. Whe have written an application in paradox 9. We have installed our application at various clients for testing purposes. Most of the clients have less than 3 pc's and the speed of the application there is fine, but we also have 2 clients that run a network of about 10+ pc's connected to a windows xp server. At these two clients the speed of the application is extremely slow. Q: How do you find the speed of your applications(written in paradox) over a network? Q: Can anyone give my some ideas where to start looking? Q: Can it be paradox, code, network or the specs of the pc's? Also, these two clients both have Norton Anitivirus installed, could this have an effect? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

trouble using SendDLG() on 2016 RDS svr W/ Outlook
I am starting up a new 2016 RDS server to replace a 2008 R2 Terminal server running a Paradox 11 App. I am having trouble using the M.SendDLG() command, which runs fine on The 2008R2 server. I get a windows error about the default email client and to open Outlook and set it as default I have opened outlook and set it as default I have also set it in control panel default programs and through settings default programs Both servers are running Outlook, the 2016 server where the problem is occuring is running Outlook 2019. There is also a Paradox errormessage that simply says "Main".  I think thats the errorShow for the M.SendDLG() Anyone else run into this?

we've already switched to an alternative like this, for one process that needs html, as an attachment, with a submit button, in a big batch to our vendors.. everything that email security hates, in one process :-) the only conceptual problem with the alternative, but it didn't matter in this particular situation, is that the alternative can't stuff the "sent" box

launching audio files from opal
Hi, I would like to launch audio files from OPAL without having to specify a host program. In otherwords --  the same effect as double clicking a file from the windows explorer. I've seen win command code for this...but it was years ago.  I looked around the dbcommunity with no success. Feels like a ghosttown. Thanks, Randy

Adding tables with different length fields
I am trying to add the data from a .db table to an empty .dbf table. It works when I do it manually using the menus. Using objectPAL, however, only one record makes it through. I am guessing that the problem is that the fields in the one are different lengths to the other. When I do it manually, I simply have to say OK to the error messages that come up and all is well but I can't find a way of replicating that in objectPAL. Any ideas very welcome!

I am no ObjecPal guru!! However, I designed a little database, using Pdx9, by linking three tables by a key field, FileNum;it works fine.  However, I need a snipit of code that would flag the user if he enters a duplicate FineNum. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Big Jerm
Wierd Problem
Ok this is wierd, you gotta help me out., , I have a form that does a bunch of stuff. It has a table frame on it that is based on a table that is changed via Tcursor while the form is open. All this seems to work fine... BUT the table frame does not look like it gets chaged until you mouse over the particlar cell., , In other words, the cell contains the old data unless you happen to move your cursor over the cell, then it changes to the new value ?!?!?!, , Is there any way to force a refresh on the table frame? If so does anyone know the code to do this., , Thanks
