Thread 25 of 25 | Thread Starter | | | Mike Prestwood | New Message Board Look Hi all,
This weekend I deployed a new message board look and I'm interested in your thoughts.
New Overview main page - gives easy access to most popular data (boards, recent threads, and no reply threads)., No groups on left menu - the left side menu was getting too complex so I removed the links to groups in favor of a list on the overview page. Now you don't have to scroll down to go to your favorite board., All Topics (the old main page) is now an option in the left side menu., Updated text.Let me know what you think!

Thread 24 of 25 | Thread Starter | | | Mike Prestwood | New Quote Post Feature! Now you can quote a particular thread post as part of your reply. Check out the new Quote option that is part of every post.
I also cleaned up the thread view so that it looks a bit cleaner and contains more white space. Each post of a thread is now separated from the other replies and the thread starter always gets a white background (the rest alternate between light gray and lighter gray).
Enjoy!

Thread 23 of 25 | Thread Starter | | | PS_3047 | What is ghostwriting? The genre is mostly the most deciding factor for which ghostwriter you should choose. If you just need to have a myriad of product and category texts written in your company name, it may not be that important that you hire a top-shelf ghostwriter. If, on the other hand, you need help with a book that needs to be both humorous and dramaturgically well-constructed, do not just close your eyes and order the cheapest candidate on Fiverr while crossing your fingers and making the sign of the cross. Instead, you really need to do your homework and search the market to find the perfect job or professional ghostwriting service. What do you think?

Thread 22 of 25 | Thread Starter | | | Mike Prestwood | New Message Board Software Hi all,
I spent today updating our message board software. Now you can reply to the middle of a thread. Some message board software use this approach and some use our old approach. I like this new approach because when you reply to a thread it "feels" like you are replying to the whole thread and someone who posted before you could get hurt feelings because they think you are talking about them.
I also enhanced some of the display and formatting.
Enjoy!

Thread 21 of 25 | Thread Starter | | | cheddar | xml, soap forum I am just starting to learn xml in earnest. At this point I know just enough to be dangerous. Is it possible to add xml and soap forums here at Prestwood? If not, is there another topic these questions should be posted in? 1 Reply: | mprestwood | Post those questions to the Industry News topic for now. |

Thread 17 of 25 | Thread Starter | | | Mike Prestwood | New Board Software! {Too Long!} 5 replies. Last post: | mprestwood | Hi Mary,
Funny you should mention dedicated servers. Yesterday, Sunday, we completed our move to a dedicated server so now the website should be much more enjoyable to use. I was just getting ready to start a new thread and mention that. We are still optimizing the new server but we should be stable by the weekend. (Stable meaning we are done optimizing and securing.)

Thread 15 of 25 | Thread Starter | | | Mike Prestwood | New 'All Groups' Random Thread LinkToday I added a "Random MB Thread" to the main message board menu. This link displays a random message board thread from "all threads". Sometimes I like to review old threads just to keep my knowledge up. During this review process, I sometimes add to the threads, but it's mainly a study tool for me.
This compliments our group message board "Random MB Thread" link we added a few months ago. Now you can display a random thread from all groups or from the group you're within.
To browse all threads randomly, go to the main message board overview page and select "Random MB Thread":

Whilst looking for inspiration for a current Paradox project I noticed that our mentor Mike A Prestwood has "drums" listed as an interest., I assume he doesn't mean the 45 gallon variety so can I tempt him into cyber print by saying that even in the UK we are not that out on a limb as amongst others I own a Radio King snare, I am intrigued - tell me more Mr Prestwood ! 7 replies. Thread 10 of 25 | Thread Starter | | | Mike Prestwood | Prestwood name changeWe're thinking about changing the name of our company from Prestwood Software & Consulting to just Prestwood Software. The original thought behind the longer name was that we wanted everyone to be able to identify by our name that we are a consulting firm and software maker. The reason we're thinking about shortening it is because it is shorter. Prestwood Software & Consulting is harder say, longer to write, etc. So the central question is, "Is the '&Consulting' required?", , Any thoughts? 15 replies. Last post: | ScottCybak | I missed this thread a while ago - but if it's worth anything, i thought the previously mentioned "Psst" was great! |

Thread 9 of 25 | Thread Starter | | | Daniel Kram | Hello PRestwood Hello all out in Prestwood land
My name is Daniel Kram. I live in Milwaukee, WI, but if you Googled my name, you would know where I live, so I just saved you some time. (grin)
I am a developer in over 10 computer languages with about 20 (ugh) years of experience. Go ahead, you can guess my age now. My primary languages are Delphi (aka Pascal), HTML, XML (if you call it a language cough), and coming up on C# and .Net architecture/framework. I also use Dreamweaver as well as Visual Studio, but I think I am leaning more towards Dreamweaver. I have also done about 3 years of Java, but none lately. Lots of SQL and just now, I am beginning to refactor a MySQL Delphi project to ElevateDB., ,
I manage a few web sites, none too fancy or anything, but hey, they get the job done.
I would like to become an active member here in any area I can be of help.
Hope to talk to you soon - well not everyone all at once...
1 Reply: | nicolep | We welcome you to Prestwood Land! We appreciate any contribution , big or small, you can add to our message boards. Look forward to seeing you out there

I have been a developer in Delphi for about 5 years and now I moved to project manager recently. We have members from beginners to experts. Good luck with the project management position - I know it's more challenging than it appears. |

Thread 5 of 25 | Thread Starter | | | Complete | gmail This looks like a very good bbs/forum., , Has anyone heard of gmail? Google has this email service with tons of storage. But you can only use it by invitation., , Anyone want to invite me? 1 Reply: | vnelsonic | Hi,, , Yes I have a gmail account - I don't think you have to be invited to get one. Just go to google.com, click on "more", scroll down to Gmail. I entered my cell phone # and they instantly text'ed me a code to enter for the account. , , OR maybe you were saying if you don't have a cell phone you can get an account by invitation instead? If that's the case, I can invite you. Just didn't know about that feature. , ~ Vicki |

I rebooted the server and it seems to be working fine now...hmmm...not sure why. I don't know if it was resources, a virus, or a hacker. Oh well., , Tomorrow morning I'm heading back to South Lake Tahoe for camping (my family is there now). I came back to meet with a client for Delphi training for the day). I'll be back Monday.
