Hi peeps.
I have another interesting newbie question. Big Grin! Is there any way in object pal to present the user with a dialog box where he can choose the folder his database is in? The story behind this is that our software suddenly has to be able to open more than one identicaly structured database for particular users, like an auditor who may want to see the data from several different companies, each in its own database. We will provide him with functionality to open one database at a time. I've found the function "setAliasPath" that allows me to point the tables alias to a new directory containing an identically structured database like this:
setAliasPath("Tables","G:\\OtherDatabaseFolder")
Now i need to get a nifty way for the user to input where he put this new database. Any sugestions? In C++ I've used a standard windows open dialogue and I'm hoping something similar is avalable in Object pal. Thanks
Another Leo

Look at the FileBrowser() methods.

Or, if using Paradox 8 or higher, look at FileBrowserEx()

Thanx Jed.

This is what I ended up with.

method pushButton(var eventInfo Event)

var
sDirectory String
fbi FileBrowserInfo
endVar

fbi.Title = "Select Database Path"
fbi.PathOnly = true ;//To select a path not a file
fbi.Alias = ":tables:" ;//Alias to start in

if fileBrowserEx(sDirectory,fbi) then
setAliasPath("Tables",sDirectory)
endIf

endMethod
