I just got back from the computer store. I was looking at word processors. I had my choice of three. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Word, and oh yeah Microsoft Word. I wonder why anyone would think Bill has a monopoly? I just can't image.

Then, I did a little research and found that there was only Microsoft products on the shelf in 15 different product catagories. We are all so screwed. With no competition, these already bug ridden products are just going to get worse and worse, while Bill gets richer and richer.

I remember when the whole micro computer thing got started. Lots of choices and we were the winners. The sad part is that both Corel Wordperfect and Lotus WordPro are better products than Word. People are just too marketing blind to see it any more. The buyer population has turned to sheep.

So Bill wins. I give up. Shoot me now the planet is going to hell and Bill is its keeper. Next I'll see buttons saying "Bill Gates for President" or maybe King, or maybe God. I pitty us all, because we dug this grave ourselves.

I don't know what this has got to do with ObjectPal, but you are dead right !

I have been an anti-Bill monopoly agitator for ages Soap Box as there is very little choice from operating systems onwards - everything is for the greater good of Microsoft. I

Anyway, before I lie down and take my prozac just what WP did you buy in the end?

Thats enough of that. Ed.

I had recently reported in the Other Paradox News section that the entire U.S. Dept. of the Interior had been ordered to convert from Corel to Microsoft.

Last week my manager informed us that this was motivated by the disasterous Bureau of Indian Affairs privacy lawsuit. I.e., we are moving to Microsoft for greater security (sic). Confused She, the manager, didn't seem to understand why I was laughing hysterically.

We're talking about the company that recently announced that, in order to recover its costs for its renewed efforts in security enhancements (cough cough), will now start charging separately for the additional security. You pay one price for the basic software, then pay more if you want "protection."

Has Microsoft taken you today? Where do you want them to go?

Resistance is futile. You WILL be assimilated.

You're right, it has nothing to do with ObjectPal. I probably should have put it somewhere else. But, I thought here somebody might care. Plus, I'm a moderator here.

I will use WordPerfect until it is no longer made and no longer works on my operating system. I was looking to buy a copy for a friend and couldn't find it in microsoft hell. Long live freedom of choice.

Have you guys heard that Bill Gate's credit card numbers were published on a British website after they were coppied from a Microsoft onsite Server by a school kid in England? There was a court case and every thing to prove it. The poor kid lost his computer for trying to make the world a safer place. Try and find some newspaper clippings about it and hand that to your supervisor Harry. Maybe she'll be laughing histerically with you pretty soon. LOL

The new hope: "Use the Linux Luke!"
