How can an html format be integrated into the following code:

strMsgHeader = "Form information follows" & vbCrLf
for each qryItem in Request.QueryString
strMsgInfo = strMsgInfo & qryItem & " - " & request.querystring(qryItem) & vbCrLf
next
strMsgFooter = vbCrLf & "End of form information"
Mailer.BodyText = strMsgHeader & strMsgInfo & strMsgFooter

correct me if im wrong but doesnt addCC add an email address that you want to send an exact copy of the email to?

Another way of thinking about this is...if you were using outlook (or any email program) if you want to send the same email to many people you could CC or BCC them...but if you want to email someone a differnt version of the email you would have to send it seperately...its the same for aspMail...you cant programatically differ the bodies of the email

Will that work here??

if vItem_Array(x) <> 0 then

strMsgInfo = strMsgInfo & vQuantity_Array(x) & vbVerticalTab
strMsgInfo = strMsgInfo & vItem_Array(x) & vbVerticalTab

vLen = len(vDescrip_Array(x))
strMsgInfo = strMsgInfo & vDescrip_Array(x) & Space(50-vLen) & vbVerticalTab & vbVerticalTab

strMsgInfo = strMsgInfo & vbVerticalTab & formatCurrency( vPrice_Array(x) ) & vbVerticalTab

strMsgInfo = strMsgInfo & formatCurrency(((vPrice_Array(x)) *( vQuantity_Array(x)))) & vbCrLf

vTotal = vTotal + ( (vPrice_Array(x)) * ( vQuantity_Array(x)) )

end if

x = x+1
Loop

Re my other ASP Mail question - we have an AddRecipient line going to the site owner. The AddRecipient should receive all information. However, we have an AddCC Session for the customer. In that case, we do not want them to receive their credit card information via their email - we just want them to receive a copy of their order.

Given the strMsgInfo listed previously, is there any way to qualify that some fields should not be received by the AddCC recipient?

What actually comes through are the tags tr td table, etc - this browser is translating the tags - Outlook Express does not.

Here is where I placed the HTML tags:

if vItem_Array(x) <> 0 then

strMsgInfo = strMsgInfo & "" & ""
strMsgInfo = strMsgInfo & ""
strMsgInfo = strMsgInfo & ""

vLen = len(vDescrip_Array(x))
strMsgInfo = strMsgInfo & ""

strMsgInfo = strMsgInfo & ""
strMsgInfo = strMsgInfo & "" & "" & vbCrLf

vTotal = vTotal + ( (vPrice_Array(x)) * ( vQuantity_Array(x)) )

end if

x = x+1
Loop
" & "" & vQuantity_Array(x) & "" & vItem_Array(x) & " " & vDescrip_Array(x) & Space(50-vLen) & " " & formatCurrency( vPrice_Array(x) ) & "" & formatCurrency(((vPrice_Array(x)) *( vQuantity_Array(x)))) & "

I have the table working fine - but I don't know where to integrate it within the asp page.

Right now, I have this:

< !-- strMsgInfo = strMsgInfo & "< !--table border='0' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='3' style=border-collapse: collapse bordercolor='#111111' width='72%' id='AutoNumber1'-->" & "< !--tr-->" -->

< !-- strMsgInfo = strMsgInfo & "< !-- td width='6%'-->" & "< !--font face=Arial size='2'-->" & vQuantity_Array(x) & "< !--/td-->" -->

Set Mailer = Server.CreateObject("SMTPsvg.Mailer")

Mailer.ContentType = "text/html"

Mailer.Qmessage = True

After adding the above line item for text/html, our ASPMail went down - we are resetting the server - will let you know what works :-)

Thank you...the Mailer.ContentType appears to work - however, it did knock down our ASPQMail - hope that doesn't happen too often.... :-)

After I get the format tweaked, then I must re-address the Credit Card information that you gave me a response on. I didn't quite follow what I should do...will have to review your message again.

strMsgInfoForAddCC

Regarding my message re: The order is emailed the office and to the customer; however, on the customer's email, we do not want the credit card info to display.

How can I exclude certain fields from appearing in the customer's email and how can I include those same fields into the office email?

Thank you.

I understand how to create 2 different bodytext...what I don't understand with ASPMail is now to send to different messages:

Mailer.AddRecipient
Mailer.AddCC
appears to send everything to the recipient and cc using Mailer.BodyText:

Mailer.BodyText = strMsgHeader & strMsgInfo & strMsgFooter

Is there an If, Then, Else statement that I should be using?

OK. Finally, have the layout for all email coming through - their are various layouts that we use.

Now, just to format the CC# -
Regarding your previous response, what is the exact code, is it:

Mailer = Nothing

OR Is it:

Set.Mailer = Nothing

Thanks again

Here is what I tried and it did not work...I think that I am just not understanding ASPMail :-)

1st loop captures all of the arrays and displays all info in the Mailer.BodyText = strMsgHeader & strMsgInfo & strMsgFooter:

Set Mailer = Server.CreateObject("SMTPsvg.Mailer")
Mailer.ContentType = "text/html"
Mailer.Qmessage = True
Mailer.FromName
Mailer.FromAddress
Mailer.RemoteHost
Mailer.AddRecipient
Mailer.AddCC
Mailer.AddCC
Mailer.Subject

Then:

Set Mailer = Nothing

Set Mailer = Server.CreateObject("SMTPsvg.Mailer")
Mailer.ContentType = "text/html"
Mailer.Qmessage = True
Mailer.FromName
Mailer.FromAddress
Mailer.RemoteHost
Mailer.AddRecipient
Mailer.AddCC
Mailer.Subject

This should capture all of the arrays again - formating the credit card # with: FormatNumber(Session("cardNum","############0000"))

Then this info is displayed with Mailer.BodyText = strMsgHeader & strMsgInfo & strMsgFooter

Then the end of the page is:

if Mailer.SendMail then

Response.Write "

Thank you. Your order has been submitted."

else

Response.Write "Mail send failure. Error was " & Mailer.Response

end if

This sent30Cust.asp page was working - until I attempted to set it up so that we receive all of the info - and the Customer receives only selected fields of information.

The other page that we use ASPMail for - sent.asp - is working correctly. That just needed the format that you assisted us with.

Referring to sent30Cust.asp...How would I set it up so that the customer does not receive all of the fields but we do?

Let me know what you need to see...

How would I use the suggestion that you made:

How about have a second string var strMsgInfoForAddCC, and only load it with the info you want them to see. Then send the two separate emails.

We have one page sentCust30.asp that captures all of the arrays in a strMsg...

I can understand how to build the strMsg and the strMsg2 but how do you make sure that strMsg is sent to AddRecipient and strMsg2 is sent to AddCC

Here is how we send the entire info now - at the end of the arrays, we have this line - it grabs everything and sends it to both AddRecipient and AddCC:

Mailer.BodyText = strMsgHeader & strMsgInfo & strMsgFooter

Thanks again.

I have reviewed the info that you sent to me. You have suggested that we send 2 different emails with 2 different strMsgInfo set-ups.

Set Mailer = Server.CreateObject("SMTPsvg.Mailer")
Mailer.ContentType = "text/html"
Mailer.Qmessage = True
Mailer.FromName =
Mailer.FromAddress=
Mailer.RemoteHost =
Mailer.AddRecipient
Mailer.AddRecipient
Mailer.AddRecipient
Mailer.AddCC Session("name"),Session("email")
Mailer.Subject

Then the rest of the information is captured via session variables, etc.

How do I set it up so that strMsgInfo is sent to AddRecipient and strMsgInfo2 is sent to AddCC

Can I write an If, Then, Else - does that work with ASPMail?

Here is where I am stuck:

When the customer is finished adding all of the items to the cart and they have entered their information, they click on a submit order button -

This button processes the sentCust30.asp page - we have a message built into the asp page that displays that their order has been sent - etc.

Have this working by using a response.redirect as follows:

sentCust30.asp
Captures all of the session variables and arrays, including the credit card information - and ends with:

Mailer.BodyText = strMsgHeader & strMsgInfo & strMsgFooter

if Mailer.SendMail then

Response.Redirect "sentCust30_nocc.asp"

else

Response.Write "Mail send failure. Error was " & Mailer.Response

end if

%>

*******************
sentCust30_nocc.asp

Captures the session variables and the arrays, excluding the credit card information and ends with:

Mailer.BodyText = strMsgHeader2 & strMsgInfo2 & strMsgFooter2

if Mailer.SendMail then

Response.Write "

Thank you. Your order has been submitted."

Response.Write "

Return to our Home Page"

else

Response.Write "Mail send failure. Error was " & Mailer.Response

end if

%>

change all:

& vbCrLf
to
& "
" & vbCrLf
could also preceed each list line with a BR tag

i can't visualize the output of that. It looks like it needs to be in a table. so you need to write out TABLE, TR, TD tags.

forget out it being email for the moment.

It's hard to tell from your post what is happening, and difficult to paste html tags in this forum because they might render.

Try this:

1. create a simple html page that contains a table, use notepad if you have no other option.

2. make it's extension .html, then click it and view it in the browser.

3. once that works, write the text between the BODY tags as a string assigned to Mailer.BodyText

This will isolate whether the problem is your HTML of with the mailer.

You do Mailer.Sendmail to the first recipient, then set Mailer = Nothing and start over with a new Create Mailer object.

I don't think there is any shortcut since you can't remove the prior AddRecipient.

Any:

Set myObj = CreateObject ...

should have the following before leaving the ASP page:

Set myObj = Nothing

Sorry, I don't know what "did not work" means. Was it ever working? Does the first email send, but not the second?

Hi Donna,

I think you could edit sentCust30.asp sot that it captures all of the arrays in a strMsg, and at the same time builds strMsg2 that contains your desired subset of info.

Donna,

As I've written before, sending a different message to TO and CC is not possible. I thought we agreed about that when I posted the sending of two separate emails on Oct 18.

You need to:
a) create two separate email bodies - you know how to do that

b) send two separate emails - you know how to do that

Kim
