Our entire user base is running 11.0.0.676 on Windows 10. I believe this is the latest version of Paradox.

Today, there is 1 user whose Paradox app is hanging when executing  the command printerSetCurrent. Rebooting does not correct the issue.

code snippet:

stPrnName = "Win2PDF"

if printerSetCurrent(stPrnInfo) then ; THIS LINE HANGS
     setRegistryValue("Software\\Dane Prairie Systems\\Win2PDF", "PDFFileName", pathstring , regKeyCurrentUser)
     setRegistryValue("Software\\Dane Prairie Systems\\Win2PDF", "file options", 2, regKeyCurrentUser)
     setRegistryValue("Software\\Dane Prairie Systems\\Win2PDF", "persistent", "0", regKeyCurrentUser)
else
errorShow("Failed to make Win2PDF the current printer")
endIf

Has anyone run into similar issues with printerSetCurrent?

Thanks,

Gary

yes, that's been the final version of Paradox for many years

step thru the three lines, see if you can see if one hangs, rather than the SetCurrent.. although I have no clue what to suggest once you know.. once those values have been set, why do they have to be reset every time you print?

It is definitely hanging on the printerSetCurrent command.

That is just a snippet of the code. The larger process saves the name of the current printer, changes the current  printer to Win2PDF(which is a PDF writer we are using). At the end of the process, it changes the current printer back to the printer name saved earlier.

I think the only thing left to try is to uninstall Paradox and re-install it.

I'd suggest a bad registry entry over a bad paradox, in this case.. uninstall both

It turns out that installing Adobe Illustrator is the culprit. There must be some incompatibility.

Fortunate to have a reliable user.... "the only thing I did different today was install Adobe Illustrator".

We've had this problem "forever" and haven't figured it out.  Windows 7.    It seems to come and go, but could be related to unusual status of one of your printers.   Try rebooting, etc.  Try removing unneeded printers.
