 Win 10 and Installation Issue

We need to upgrade some machines from Win 7 to Win 10, and they need to be able to run Paradox 8.
- Will that work?
- Is there a way to install from a CD to a machine with no CD drive?

you can copy the cd to a drive, and install from the drive

Thank you for the information. At this point a new installation of 8 on a Windows 10 machine does not even open!
I saw a really good thread you moderated on the complexities and causes of this problem and the fixes.
We have a complicated system of Paradox forms and tables that is essential to the business functions. I am going to have to make this work. If I buy Wordperfect Office Professional Edition (one of the more current versions), how much trouble am I likely to encounter?
I am not the original programmer but have done a fair amount of it (although not recently). I'm a little rusty. When you say to recompile, are you talking about re-delivering forms with code attached? What about scripts? It's just a little hazy trying to remember what that might be referring to.

p7 and p8 stopped working on win10 a couple of years ago.. in general, everything internally should work, but there's always gonna be "something", of course.. ezdialog, can't answer, don't use it

When you run software developed with Paradox 8 in the newest versions of Paradox, the software runs much slower. We have very large databases and processes that took 30 seconds will now take 2 minutes. For small databases this may not be noticed. Queries and other processes are just as fast. |

Good to know. I wonder how you are defining "very large" databases, so I can determine what I might expect.

We define large databases as over 500,000 records. We have a number of our own databases greater than 10 million.
We generally run client database in segments of 600-700 thousand records. All Paradox 8 code runs slower with the newest versions - we own three.
