I have just re-installed my Paradox 11 on a Windowsx64 laptop and I cannot get it to print reports from Paradox reports themselves. However, they work perfectly if I call them up from a form in objectPAL.

When I just try to print in a new Paradox sessionm I get a dialogue box that says:

Printer interface setup error/ LCAppPrint Initialize failed!

Then Windows 10 just closes the program.

I'm not all that good with finding out where my problem lies. Could anyone point me to some solution, please?

that's an unusual combination.. same reports, same printers? no problems from word, email, etc?

are you printing to the default printer, or changing to another? have you confirmed that all of the printers you find in "Devices and Printers" are actually on-line?

have you tried print-to-file, or print-to-pdf, if you have pdf installed that way?

instead of pre-made reports, can you do a simple query from a table, and print the Answer table?

Tried again. Printed the report through the form. Then opened the report, pressed Print and the programme closed. started editing a script in ObjectPAL and tried to print it, but the programme stopped. Tried Word and WordPerfect. They both print okay haven't tried print to file. It is the default printer. I changed the default printer and tried again- same result.

wow.. just did some searches, and the few pdox-lcapp errors are all about a decade old.. the solution that seemed to have the most reliable sources was "not logged in as admin".. but mixed results, for anything that was suggested

Back after yeeaars in the wilderness. I've tried this again and get the same result. I can print a report if I do it through and objectPAL script. Load the report and print. But if I just open the report, I get the same result and Paradox closes.

Also, I can't print things like info structure. Paradox just falls over.

Printing a report in Paradox under Windows 10, using the printer from a form is working when using the printer set as the default/standard printer in Windows.

My problem is that changing the printer to print the report as a PDF does not work as it used to work before Win 10. It simply does not work to switch the printer. I tried many suggested work arounds I found.

The driver, e.g. Adobe PDF Converter, will not get selected and set. Paradox freezes and has to be terminated using Task Manager.

The only way to get a report page for the desired record, is to load the report visible, apply the filter for that record, run the report and finally select the PDF printer manually via the menu File→Print..→select the printer and set it back to the default printer afterwards.

No longer simply using the time saving and easy working Pushbutton on te form frown

Anyone having a working solution?

printing issues like this never have the same solution twice, it seems

it could be a specific driver, a combination of drivers, a combination of third-party apps, non-found devices, network cards

is it only changing to the PDF driver that fails?

 Hi Steven,

It's even stranger when I tried the other printers.

Standard is a Brother MFC-L14410DW printer.

When selecting Brother PC-Fax and Microsoft XPS Document writer, it does not get changed but prints to tha standard printer.

Using any of the PDF printers Adobe, Microsoft or PDF995, Paradox freezes and has to be terminated using Task manager.

I will have a try on my wife's PC to check wether it's computer specific.

most of the examples I can think of, for my recent apps, the print-to-pdf is being triggered manually.. but others are surely doing it in code, and I'm not seeing other instances of pdf failure being mentioned on the various forums

also, Brother printers aren't so "standard" thesee days.. you never know....
