we have been running paradox for many years, and have Paradox 11 from WP Office Pro 12, installed with a SBS server network and Xp clients. Now have two Windows 7 machines. They run paradox okay but the printing is a real problem as some selections for printers are not working correctly.
Has anyone tried the X5 version of Paradox and has anything changed that would make a difference running on Windows 7 machines. The Corel site has very few details and could not even get there pdf to work.

My understanding is that it's the Paradox 11 version. Not sure if it's the 11.0.0.411 SP2 version or the hot fix version (11.0.0.663). It will be interesting to verify this.

I finally broke down and obtained X5 (previously I was using X3). Paradox is 11.0.0.676 and I installed the HotFix 1 which still leaves it at the same version number.
It still has the PdxRegCl.exe bug (can't believe they haven't fixed that!) but using MSConfig to disable it at startup does work.
I'm currently testing it on Win7 Sp1 64bit.
It still has the bug where it gives an error everytime you close it (Paradox for Windows Desktop has stopped working). [Is there a fix for that?]
The About box's System Info works again (it gives junk in X3).
I did notice that idapi32.dll is a different size. But it carries the same version number (5.2.0.2) and copyright as the X3 version.
X5 = 594.984 bytes
X4 = 589,312 bytes
The X5 version does have a digital signature - its not clear if that's the only difference between them.
I noticed the difference because I normally install the BDE patch for "Free Desk Space exceeds 4gb". I have not tried to install the patch yet - I may wait to see if I run into the error while testing.
I'll be doing some more extensive testing over the next week - I'll let you know what I find.
I did a bit more investigation and discovered there is a new version of Rick Kelly's 4gb fix for Windows 7. The new program is called PatchBDE32.exe and the bdeker32.dll now goes in c:\windows\syswow64\ (for 64bit windows 7). The patch seems to run perfectly on the signed version of idapi32.dll.
I have the fix for Windows y 32, but cannot find IDAPI32.dll in any of the usual folders, and Windows 7 search, which is dicey at best, turns nothing up. Nor can I find the .dll cited in the registry. Any explanations? Insufficient disk space warning (4 gb error) is stopping a number of things. I have the patch and want to apply it.
Thanks. Found them. One of the issues with my installation is that search has not worked from the beginning.
A late answer t the initial question.
There are definitely issues with W7 Paradox on Windows 7. Corel has created some patches for various versions, but has, possibly in order to increasing sales of x5, or possibly because previous patches did not work correctly.
Therefor, to get any patches or service packs, you need to upgrade to at least X4.
I have been dealing with a number of serious issues and been on a number of boards, none of which indicate that, aside from the availability of the patches, there is any significant improvement in X5. Among the lingering issues are the 4g error (borland, but it could be fixed - the patch, by the way, does not necessarily work on W7) and the persistent pdxregcln at startup, which can be fixed fairly easily.
