I recently instslled Pdox9 on a network computer (locally). The programme I develop ran well . However, when the user logged on, and tried to run Pdox9, we got the following message:
The default for the NetDir setting (part of the BDE) is C:\ which is now illegal in Vista. So, you need to point it to another location.
The NetDir is used to control multi-user data entry on Paradox tables. For single user Paradox users, you can point it to any directory within their computer. I usually point it to C:\Temp\Private for single user Paradox users.
For multi-user Paradox data entry, you need to point it to a common folder on your network and grant everyone who needs it full rights.
Use the BDE Administrator to set this setting. Refer to my Install Paradox 9 on Vista post for complete instructions.
If that doesn't do it, you may have to delete a stray lock file, refer to my Could Not Initialize BDE post for specifics.
Thank you very much Mike. I created the Temp directory and the Privete Subdirectory, and pointed the NET DIR to it. WOWWWWW, I am on the ball, I am in heaven!! Thank you so very much.
