Hi all,
I spent today updating our message board software. Now you can reply to the middle of a thread. Some message board software use this approach and some use our old approach. I like this new approach because when you reply to a thread it "feels" like you are replying to the whole thread and someone who posted before you could get hurt feelings because they think you are talking about them.
I also enhanced some of the display and formatting.

Hi all,
This morning I coded a bit on the search capabilities for these message boards. I applied the same search capabilities for KB posts for MB posts.
You can now...
search by an exact phrase, all words, or any words
seach replies correctly. Fixed a bug where reply searches didn't always include replies.
Defaults to a wider search that now includes the post body text.
Simplified look and feel too.
All these search changes should make our wealth of knowledge much more valuable to all of us.

In your other post you say that if someone posts without a subject you generate one. Why can't you do that for the old posts? Most of us never changed the subject on replies so all the old posts don't really take advantage of the collapse thing.
By the way, it's nice to be back and see some activity!

Let me think about that. It would take me an hour or so to do that so I might just do that. We do get tons of hits from search engines even on the oldest posts.

Okay thanks. I know we have some good posts in the moderator topic today but I wanted say out here on the public side that I really like the new thread look. I think the new features you added are great too but the new look seems simpler in design and therefore easier to read. I took a look at some of the old threads and they are much better.

I could, sure, but I'm not sure if it's a desired feature. Most people don't go back and edit there own posts so I hesitate to spend the hour or two on to code it. I think we'll just roll forward with our old posts as is.
