Well, Kia after all those words of encouragemnt you can't give it up now can you
Just remember whatever you chose to do can be a big pain in the *** to start with with but once you get into it - if it's really what you want to do - you'll be fine.
Smile and tell me did they name that car KIa after you ?
Welcome to the Prestwood communnity - and to the larger community of programmers and developers.
I hope you find the answers to many of your questions here.
If you don't, please just ask. This is a very active community with experts from around the world contributing on a regular basis.
Be sure to browse around to find the groups that most interest you, then poke around in each.
Don't feel overwhelmed if you encounter topics that seem way over your head right now. Nobody was born knowing all this stuff. We were all once "beginners."
Finally, as a beginner, please don't feel that you have nothing to contribute. Beginners can help fill in a lot of blanks that more advanced programmers tend to take for granted.
You sound discouraged again. Maybe a few words about the reality of this profession will help:
Right now, you are a student of programming, perhaps fairly young. If you are in a good school, you'll find the course work challenging, even downright hard. There comes a point, though, when everything seems to suddenly "fall into place," and, afterward, things get easier.
But graduating with a degree in your major, and entering the work force doesn't change one thing that's constant: In programming, you never stop learning. This is not like becomming a dermatologist, where there are hundreds of skin ailmnets, and just a hanful of skin creams to prescribe. (No offense intenteded to the fine doctors)
I've been doing this for close to 30 years, now. Most days I think I'm pretty good at it. Without fail, though, I'm confronted with a new problem, and I find myself doubting my abilities. It happened again, just last week. The details aren't important.
What is important is that, having "learned to learn," (which is what education is really about) I was able to find a solution, implement and test it - and succeed.
I have the good fortune to work at Prestwood, where the challenges change on a weekly basis, and every one of my colleagues is willing to help the other guy "up the ladder."
I would hate to be stuck in one of those programming jobs where all you do, year in, year out, is maintain the same old program. No thank you. To me, a good job is one that stretches you, forces you to grow.
If I can offer one bit of adivce, it is this: Take the emotion out of the equation.
The computer doesn't know how you feel. It doesn't care how you feel. And it can't do a thing to help the way you feel. So there is no sense at all in bringing your feelings to the keyboard. Set them aside, and focus on the task at hand.
