This weekend I deployed a new message board look and I'm interested in your thoughts.
New Overview main page - gives easy access to most popular data (boards, recent threads, and no reply threads).
No groups on left menu - the left side menu was getting too complex so I removed the links to groups in favor of a list on the overview page. Now you don't have to scroll down to go to your favorite board.
All Topics (the old main page) is now an option in the left side menu.
RT: I just posted a fix so it should work now. It worked fine in IE and Firefox but I was able to reproduce the problem in Apple's Safari and deployed the fix just now. You may have to press F5 to reload the JavaScript library. Let me know if you still see it.
Also, I like ASPGuy's suggestion and in fact that's what I tried to do when you reported this last time. I think it would be really cool for it to be just below the edit window (above Email Notification). I ran into problems using the code that came with this editor so I'll probably just write my own so I can do that. However, that's for the future as time allows.
ASPGuy: As for the Who's Online Now option, yeah, I'd like to add a MB specific version of it that shows who's online for all boards and also show you who's online in the board you're in (Paradox, Delphi, VS.Net, Java, etc.) I'll add that feture when time allows.
Also, the boards are starting to get busier but they aren't as busy as they were in their peek. Now what we're sending out our monthly eMag, we expect it will grow quickly now but may take a few months. This relates because the "Who's Online Now" feature works best when the messageboard is fairly busy.
Thanks for the kind words. I really like the new look too. I'll keep tweaking adding features and trying to make it even easier to use. Ideas are always welcome!
I'll test with Opera right now. I haven't tested with Opera in a month or two and I don't even have it installed on my computer right now!!! Okay, I'll install it now.
