Please ignore. I ended up solving it after adding the advancedWildcardsInLocate(Yes), and then changing from locatePattern() to simply locate(). I probably made the change prior for some reason haha. Grant

ok, an undefined field.. first, that little bit of code should work.. but second, you can still use real fields from dummy tables, in situations liek this, if pictures, lookup tables, etc. can help

RE: Fixed No of Rows in Table Fram
most anything you can change while editing a form, you can change by setting values when you open it.. you just need to find the right parameters to set fm.open(myform) fm.thistext = "Hello" fm.thisfield = "George" fm.wait()

New Paradox User

Help!!!  I am a new Paradox user and I am not a programmer or a techie.  I've been working here for 6 months and have been able to figure out how to create basic forms and reports but I'm trying to find training or manuals that will get me to the next level.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

WordPerfect Office Pro 2020; No Change in Paradox?
Based in part on information from this board, I bit the bullet and upgraded to WP Office Pro 2020 from Version 8. The installation went smoothly, but when I opened Paradox it was still Version 11. Comparing it to my laptop, it's exactly the same release, 11.0.0.676! I then uninstalled and reinstalled Paradox with the same result. Did I do something wrong? Is there a newer version of Paradox, and if so why don't the update program install it? If this is true, then Corel is ripping off customers — I could have saved $100 by purchasing the standard upgrade instead of the Pro version (Paradox being the only difference, I think).

How to Trap a mouse?
Are there any examples of how to trap an event for a scroll wheel of a mouse?, , I am having an issue with users unitentionally adding a record by scrolling the mouse wheel.   The form proprty AutoAppend is set to false,  and I trap Pg up and Pg down keys to prevent this issue.   Unfortunately I have not been able to trap the mouse wheel.

Paradox View Setting
Is there a way to force Paradox to open forms in the "fit width" mode? The font it uses otherwise is rather small and difficult to read. However, if I change it to "fit width," it reverts to 100% when I exit and restart the program. Thanks.

Fixed No of Rows in Table Frame
Is it possible to fix the number of rows in a MRO table frame even if only the first 4 or 5 are populated? I'm trying to make a complex form and report which fills the total area available.

Connecting to PostgresSQL server
Hi,  I have been dragged back from retirement to fix a small Paradox database we use for design. Previously I used the Paradox ODBC to connect to the DB and all was well. The DB is now a PostgreSQL databse. I have installed the ODBC connection and can connect useing Access.  PostgreSQL35W ODBC System DSN On the paradox form I have a button to connect to the DB useing the following Code dynalias["UserName"] = "aaaaa", dynalias["Password"] = "XXXXXX" if not db.open(":PostgreSQL35W:", dynalias) then   ;Which Is the ODBC System DSN, , msginfo("Caliach Database Not Open", "stop") else message.visible = true ;UPDATE NEW PARTS, message = ("UPDATING PARTS DATA") sqlvar = sql SELECT PTMPTNO, PTMP1CD, PTMSTUM, PTMSEQ,PTMSATX , PTMUSE1, PTMUSE2, FROM altro.PTMFILE altro_ptmfile, WHERE PTMSEQ > ~oldptmseq, endsql executeSql(db, sqlvar, ":caliachData:NewParts"), , endif How do I change this to connect to the Postsgres35 DYN?

Mouse WHEEL Movement
In PDOX 8,  the mouse wheel had no impact on the paradox environment,  It just didn't work. Now in PDOX 11,  the mouse wheel is allowing users to scroll off of the record they should be Adding/Editing.  The user is then focused on a blank screen. Is there a way to trap that event?  I dont see any clues in the help doicument when it comes to scrolling mouse wheels. Currently I use the KeyPhysical event to prevent users from using the arrow keys to move from record to record,  but does not prevent the MOUSE action
