3. The Future of Paradox Blog

If you have an existing Paradox system you can keep using it but you'll need to skip the Vista operating system and either stick with Windows XP or move to Windows 7. Because better tools exist, you may very well want to put a plan together now for converting to another development tool or at least understand what the future is likely to hold. If you're a power-user or researcher working with data, stick with Paradox.

5. Paradox ObjectPAL Dormant Customer Ordering Trend Report (Old and New Versions)

This article describes a Paradox ObjectPAL ordering trend reporting program I made that accepts a purchase order date range and a non-purchase order date range. It will report customers who bought during the purchase time period, but not during the non-purchase time period. There are 2 versions of this report. The older version uses only ObjectPAL Tcursors to perform the processing. The newer one incorporates programmatically executed queries in addition to Tcursors. The purpose of this report is to reveal those customers with declining sales.

Hello Prestwood,

I

Hello Prestwood, I am once again asking for your support.  During the coronavirus lockdown I decided it was a good time to simplify my reports. One of the challenges I face is a set of 2d bar graphs I have created from a table.  Note my X axis data points will vary greatly: I believe I have run into a glitch I will not be able to fix.  The X axis 'ticks' keep counting but the data isnt showing up. If i play around resizing the graph in design, it may or may not fix it. I would like to sort this out so I do not have to manually involve myself further. I uploaded an image of my issue to imgur https://imgur.com/a/uWrA9rC  (imgur is a safe site, with many photos of cats) THANK YOU

Paradox 11 not printing to network printers
I have just re-installed my Paradox 11 on a Windowsx64 laptop and I cannot get it to print reports from Paradox reports themselves. However, they work perfectly if I call them up from a form in objectPAL. When I just try to print in a new Paradox sessionm I get a dialogue box that says: Printer interface setup error/ LCAppPrint Initialize failed!  Then Windows 10 just closes the program. I'm not all that good with finding out where my problem lies. Could anyone point me to some solution, please? Tony

Back after yeeaars in the wilderness. I've tried this again and get the same result. I can print a report if I do it through and objectPAL script. Load the report and print. But if I just open the report, I get the same result and Paradox closes. Also, I can't print things like info structure. Paradox just falls over.

Printer Driver Settings
We have  been running Paradox 11 on Windows 7 for awhile. We have bought new Windows 10 pc‘s and are going through the configuration process. We have a Konica C658 printer. We are running into an issue where Paradox will not pick up the default printer preferences. For example, in the printer driver we have set Paper size = 14.5 x 11 Orientation = Portrait Print Type = 1-Sided Staple = Left Corner But when you print from Paradox, for example instead of Print Type = 1-Sided, we are getting 2-Sided. I know I can set some of these settings via code(I don‘t believe I can set it to staple). But I‘d rather not go back and change this on every form where I print reports. Has anyone run into issues with Paradox not picking up the printer preferences that are set on the printer driver? Oall other apps, such as the Microsoft Office apps, work fine. Thanks, Gary

Purchasing a new WS and unable to find my Paradox 9 disks from Corel Wordperfect office 200 Professional to perform new install. What newer versions of Paradox can I purchase which would be compatible with my older version and not have functionality issues with the Databases and queries, reports that I have already created.
