1. VB Classic Custom Routines (Sub, Function)

VB Classic is a non-OOP language with some OOP features. It offers both Subs and Functions. A Sub does not return a value while a Function does. When Subs and Functions are used in a class module, they become the methods of the class.

Wrong DATE format importing csv file to Pdox5
I am trying to make a DATE.DB which consists of fields (date, year, quarter, month, day, weekno, and weekday)., , I made a csv file (say date7.txt) as below:, , 2005-01-01,2005,1,01,01,53,Saturday, 2005-01-02,2005,1,01,02,53,Sunday, , Then Tools/Utilities/Import. The format of the first field is in A10 (Alpha size 10) format; Not D (Date) format., , Can anyone help? Thanks.

I figured it out. Pdox5 uses Windows Date format instead of using IDAPI's Date format., , Here is what I did in Windows ControlPanel/Reginal and Language Options:, , Under Regional Options tab, choose customize..., and under Customized Regional Options window, choose Date tab, then set Date format to yyyy-mm-dd and Date Separator to "-", , Then the import of Pdox5 got me a right D format., , End of story. Thanks for reading.

Keeping controls update
Hello, How can I set a control value based (=calculated) on the value of another control? How can I make it always update as the base control changes?, , example1:, I have a "Date Modified" field in a table. In the related entry form, I want the "Date Modified" control , to be updated automatically, that is, every time I change a record, , the "Date Modified" control must automatically reflect the date in which the record was modified., , example2, I want to save the weekday of the "Date Modified" control in another control (=Weekday([Date Modified];2)). , Here again the control containing the weekday must update itself each time the base control value changes. PS. Mostly, the "Date Modified" control gets changed by means of a macro (SetValue to Now()), , Thanks, Mrreel

You are just as correct in using a macro. I am generally more comfortable in VBA. I think that you should update both fields in the same event macro, that way you are not depending on an event occuring due to the macro setting the value of the date modified field.
