DDR SDRAM stands for double data rate synchronous dynamic random access memory. DDR SDRAM is faster than SDR RAM (the preceeding type of RAM). DDR provides nearly twice the bandwidth by transferring data on the rising and falling edges of the clock signal without increasing the clock frequency.
