Just a quick update on training. Obviously we didn't end up moving to a suite that had a large training room. The folks downstairs do training so it seems training for us is "out of scope" for our services. Training is at least out for now. We always offered 1 on 1 developer training, but that's the limit for now.

Editing pdf files with VB or VB.net
I want to edit the text boxes and check boxes in PDF files with VB, using data from a database and user input. What methods or tools would you suggest? Is there a straightforward way to find the location (address or position in the pdf file) of standard objects in a pdf file? Thank You! Bill

Microsoft Cert Test 70-306, VB.NET Apps
I just passed one of 3 tests leading towards MCAD certification. That test was 70-306, "VB.NET Windows Applications". I'm working on the next one, XML Web Services., The point of this message is 2-fold:, (1) I'd be more then happy to give you my take on how to prepare and what to expect., (2) If you have taken the other 2 tests, XML Services and VB.NET Web Services, I'd love to have a discussion with you.

I'm not sure how you got your posting attached to this thread, but you should have posted to a new thread.  Based on a quick look at the code there are two issues First, as you thought there should be only one Sub Main() and you cannot have two subs or functions with the same name and signatures.  Second the first Sub Main() does not seem to have an end sub.

Introduction
I started using VB.Net in 2003.  Since then, I have learned a bit of C++, Java, and VBA.  I have continued to learn how to program in order to code Database Applications and to brush up on the skills and techniques I have learned over the years.

Connecting to Paradox tables using VS.NET
How do I go about connecting to Paradox tables using VS.NET. I'm new to VS.NET and at the moment feel VB.NET is the way to go. We currently only require to read the Paradox tables (if that makes life easier). We are starting to develop Web sites and initially will access data contained within our legacy Paradox CRM applications. Regards Jon

Wes, Many thanks for your reply. I have tried to follow your steps. Creating the ODBC is fine. When I come to adding the textbox and accessing the Data | Data Bindings Property I do not have an Advanced option only the '...' button which opens a form entitled 'Textbox1 DataBindings'. This form has all the properties of the textbox but no mention of enabling binding or clicking 'Add Project Datasource' I'm using VS 2003 btw Regards Jon

Communicating with .NET
I have an application written in paradox 9 and I need to be able to communicate with VB.NET. Someone suggested using sockets but I'm not sure if this is the best approach. I need to be able to pass information to a VB.NET exe or dll and return a value. Does anyone have any advice on the best way to do this?

The BEST way to learn programming
The BEST way to learn programming, , Tetris source code in VC6, C++ Builder5, JBuilder, Delphi6, VB6, VB.net(VS.net beta2) and C Sharp(C#, VS.net beta2), , It is the best way to learn programming quickly., , It is not free. So you should download the exe file freely and decide whether you wanna pay for it or not. You can also find many free code on the internet., , I think it's well worth it to get it in several languages, organized into projects ready to compile and the source codes are just designed for learning programming., http://rain.prohosting.com/kakasoft , , We hope it will help you as an active book.

I know it's been a little while since you posted and in that time you may have become an ASP.NET and VB.NET expert, if not, was there anything specific you had questions about?

abstract keyword
do methods defined with the abstract keyword have to be defined inside of an abstract class? I am converting some vb.net code and the MustOverride keyword doesn't appear to directly translate., , TIA

Thx for the answer sandman. What I was trying to figure out was abstract methods in non-abstract classes. I am backing up and going through a c# patterns book. I hope the controller pattern holds the solution., , BTW, where in No Cal are you?
